I'd say Elemetanlist/Mesmer. The elementalist nukes while the mesmer can either use inspiration to gain more energy for nuking, or use domination to add even more damage. An E/Mo or Mo/* could also get lots of smiting damage as well, but I'd really say it depends on how the characters are played that determine their damage output.

There are many classes that deal a huge damage in particular situation, like my solo smite monk, but an all-time good dmg class must be E/Me.
I have a fire/domination e/me and usually opens battle with fire storm followed by chaos storm. That is 2 aedot stacking for 10 seconds, and you still have time to cast lava front, flame burst, incendiary bond, phoenix etc etc in the remaining period of that 10 seconds. I am not a fan of meteor shower though. |

THe only issue i have with meteor shower is that for some reason the spell fails if the target dies before you finished casting [as opposed to fire storm which will still actually cast even if there is no one left standing there]. Add to that the fact that meteor show is very slow to cast + expensive you run the risk of wasting alot of time and energy if you do not pick targets carefully. With firestorm you can at least stay on the same target everyone else is targeting.
So dunno if it's intended, because both Fire Storm and Meteor Show got the same "area around target foe" description. Thus no indication as to why firestorm will succeed without the "target foe" and meteor shower doesn't. Im sure this mustve happened with someone? 5 Ettins surround your warrior, you go "oh crap" and start firing off all your area damage spells, oops warrior kills the first ettin, bam meteor shower fails and you need to recast ...too late? Yeah I dislike Meteor Shower for that exact reason.

I'm not a fan of any spell that uses 25 energy with or w/o exhaustion. As I am a Mes/E, I'm mainly an illusionist and fire based. I usually use firestorm, flare, and immolate for fire. Only if immolate had a longer duration of burning effect than just 2 mere sec. Conjure phantasm and phantom pain make a deadly combo. I also have some points for domination and inspiration. I always use energy drain to steal 12 energy from the enemy and inflict 77 dmg for 10sec with backfire against spellcasters I also find spirt shackles to be very useful against spellcasters too

i'm an ele/mo and so far its been great at spike dp, considering in pve anything like firestorm and meteor shower is good, but when it comes to pvp it does great spike damage pvp listing is as follows
Aura, Flare, Flame Burst, Inferno, Immolate, Fireball, Meteor, Mind Burn or Mark of Protection if ur gettin beat on for pve Aura, Flare, Lava Font, Flame Burst, Inferno, Fire Storm, Meteor Shower, anything i love pve as for pvp i'm not a big fan of it but at the same time its something else to do, but as for a ele/mo smiter, JAG's video was an inspiration so i followed his specs it does alot of great dam but not really usefull in pvp, pve its great tho. |

However, in the desert, I'll say that meteor storm is a lifesaver. When your tanks are getting mauled by 75billion jade scarabs that pop up like they're snow at Christmas, that knockdown is all that's saving you from quick, gory death E probably has the highest spike damage, but I think a W/E (conjure flame / lightning etc) or W/Mo smiter can dish out some punishment too. In the end, it's not all about damage though Creston |
